Our client is a Global MNC in the chemical, gas, and energy related industry

Reports to : Country Manager

Manage a team : 5-6 people


The Head of Marketing is responsible for leading various marketing initiatives & activities related to Investment, Product Management, Pricing of the chemical, and gases product portfolio to drive growth and profitability in line with the country strategies.

The candidate will also lead and support Customer Experience initiatives/activities to enhance the customer led culture within the organisation. The country Customer Service team will also report to this role.

This position will lead the timely development of strategic & actionable proposals or deep dives into crucial and urgent strategic issues. In addition, this role will track the execution of agreed strategic actions and progress against predetermined KPIs and targets including timelines.

This role should be strongly business focused and is a thought leader and proactive yet collaborative change agent with a deep understanding of the company business, processes, guidelines including portfolios as well as good understanding of the local & external market trends, customer requirements and opportunities in Singapore.

Principal Responsibilities


This position has the following performance areas or areas of responsibility which include but are not limited to:


  • Product Management, Capacity Planning & Investment  
    • Responsible for mid- to long-term supply-demand management forecast and capacity planning, strategic sourcing of key products and Product Costing.
    • Drive product management and investment cases for capacity/market share improvement in key business segments
    • Review and evaluate Investment Cases for new chemical / Gases GDE projects to ensure alignment with cost and distribution assumptions.
    • Accountable for GDE Capex budgeting and utilisation including development of the business cases for GDE Capex investments.
  • Market Intelligence, Pricing & Contract Management and Customer Experience
    • Understanding of the dynamic market, both locally & globally, including macro-economics, trends, competition, market sector development and customers for timely strategic business decisions.
    • Develop in-depth/intimate understanding of key individual customers’ business, markets and strategies where applicable for business leverage and growth.
    • Provide analysis, drive and support the business to set strategic pricing targets as part of development and maintenance of a Price Strategy with adherence to the Authority Matrix per Global Pricing Policy and communications to the business team.
    • Understand and monitor factor cost changes and cost recovery rate, providing this to the business on a regular basis to ensure full cost recovery and development of strategies for any required mitigation.
    • Lead the implementation of customer management processes including pricing & contract management, other best practices & key regional initiatives to drive commercial & operational excellence.
    • Responsible for intercompany sales/transfer pricing as well as competitor sales and pricing.
    • Drive strong Customer Experience via feedback loops including Customer Satisfaction Survey and Complaints Management Process etc.


  • Processes & Reporting
    • Own the overall country processes for areas including Product Management, Investment cases utilizing GDE Capex, Customer Management, Pricing & Contract Management & Customer Experience.
    • Support business related marketing communications, both internal and external requests.


Required Qualifications/Experience


  • 10+ years with chemical, gas or energy relevant industry with strong Marketing, business development experiences.
  • University Degree preferably in Marketing or Business. Technical and engineering background a plus.
  • Advanced Degree a plus (i.e. MBA or Technical), but not essential.
  • Experience in working within a matrix style, cross functional, team based environment.
  • Exposure to various aspects of marketing – products, pricing & contracts.
  • Commercial acumen and entrepreneurial drive.
  • Strong financial and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication, facilitation & influencing skills, effective in presentation, negotiation and conflict resolution, experience in managing cross functional groups and developing strategic relationships and networks (both internal and external parties).
  • Strong people and team management with ability to lead and motivate a team as well as ability to work with global and regional teams.
  • Advanced Excel and Power Point skills, for financial modelling on investment cases and business/marketing related presentations.
  • Project management experience.
